Livestream recording?

Next month I will be participating in an event that will be livestreamed. I can't get a commitment from the organizer to record the stream and make it available to the participants. Is there a service or something I can set up to record in my absence?

To make it more fun, when the stream goes live, I will have to be away from the computer. If there is nothing but having a friend record it, what type of software works well for recording livestream?
