Criminal right to bear arms?

This thread is NOT about the 2nd amendment or similar rules (and hence not necessarily US politics, but if it's moved I understand)

This thread is NOT about gun control policy and whether or not they would be effective or not.



For the purpose of this thread, we will assume that non-criminals above a certain age (adulthood, I guess, however that is defined) have the right to purchase and own a gun.



In this thread, I want to discuss whether criminals should retain the right to bear arms (we can talk nuance about what crimes fall into this if any).



The reason I want to have this discussion is that every time I've seen questioning of universal background checks, it's been about the policies 1) being inefficient or 2) restricting non-criminals too much (via wait period, paperwork, etc.). I've yet to really see anyone argue that criminals should retain the right to bear arms in these discussions but would like to see what people here think.
