This has happened often enough to make me suspicious. I can just be doing nothing on the Windows 7 (HP) like reading a news site, and the whole thing will just shut off. This last time when I started it back up I notice that there was an Adobe update window that popped up, and also the Windows notification that there are New Updates Available.
I made a mental note of the last few shutdowns and it always seems to be around an update time (I have not determined which of the two is causing it). I only allow Adobe and Windows to notify me of updates, not automatically install them. I guess they get impatient.
Fortunately I have never lost any work when this has happened. Even restarting Firefox brings me right back to the position of the page I was on. But I can't be sure it won't happen if I'm in the middle of creating something important.
I understand I could set both to "Manually check for updates" but I don't really want to do that because I will put it off for way too long.
