Solar panels green energy for the home...

Friend of mine who lives in Florida is looking into solar panels as a way to not only offset the cost of electricity, but also as a back up system in case of blackouts. While she was hoping to eventually unplug from the power grid, my understanding is that thats illegal in Florida. .. At any rate, i'd like to ask everyones opinions on this particular unit she sent me a link to. She's currently looking into the two most expensive units.
