For any WWII aviation buffs here in the forum the following may be of interest. One of the only two flyable Avro Lancasters will soon be making its way from Canada to the U.K. for a six-week tour where it'll join the other flyable Lancaster operated by the RAF. This tour has been years in the making and I envy those on the other side of the Atlantic who'll get to see two Lancasters in the air together—a very rare sight not likely to be seen again any time soon.
Original story here: Canada's Lancaster bomber to cross Atlantic for U.K. tour. It was supposed to depart Monday but engine trouble has pushed that back a day: Avro Lancaster departure for U.K. tour pushed back to Tuesday.
A seat on the trans-Atlantic flight was auctioned off on eBay to help raise funds to cover the costs of the tour. Story here: $79,100 bid lands seat on Lancaster bomber Europe trip.
