My workplace recently purchased a fancy Aficio MP 6002 SP printer from Ricoh, which has yet to be setup. We've been assured that it will be much more efficient than each user having their own stand-alone desktop printer. I'm not convinced.
One of our office administrators has indicated the new machine will allow 9 individual users to print to 9 separate trays. In checking the manual however, I see it says the printer has "a user-assignable 9-bin mailbox to produce high-quality, finished documents on a wide range of paper stocks and sizes", and that's found in the section on 'Finisher Features'. So is a bin the same as a tray, and is the office admin correct?
Even if this is true, I still fail to see how this is going to be more efficient than 9 people being able to print simultaneously to their own printers.
Am I right to be skeptical?
