The girl's mother, Maggie Gaines, had accused Valley Forge Elementary School in Pennsylvania of mishandling the incident last November.

Her daughter Margot had become frustrated in class and pointed her finger at the teacher and said 'I shoot you'.

The school contacted Gaines and told her it was district policy that they report the incident to the local police force...

Should we fear Bernie?

Bernie's been in government for a few decades now. He seems like a nice guy who's never been able to do much with his ideas.

But happens if he wins? What happens if all of his ideas suddenly are backed by major power?

Millenials don't remember the evils of Socialism but many Gen Xers and Boomers do. We remember the Gulags, the Berlin Wall, the Khmer Rouge, the barbed wire, the purges, the brutally put down revolutions.

Bernie's supporters say "oh no, that wouldn't happen here, this time it will be peaceful, freedom-loving Socialism".

Well I've read the agenda of the DSA, which Bernie is a member of. They want to destroy capitalism, end national borders. They want to put the means of production and industry and wealth into the hands of "The People", which means mass-nationalization of industry, corporations, banks, the engines of commerce.

Every national manifestation of Socialism that the world has ever seen, has been an economic disaster, a human rights disaster, or both. Do we really want to give it another shot????

Clouds don't bend towards horizon?

Ok, so how come clouds off in the far distance and by the horizon don't appear to bend downwards? Contrails from airplanes do this, we've all seen it. But I don't recall seeing a cloud to this.

Any answers? Thanks.

....And no, I am not Flat Earther. The Earth is clearly an oblate spheroid.

Planets Form Gently

New Horizons spacecraft 'alters theory of planet formation'

The established view is that material violently crashed together to form ever larger clumps until they became worlds. New results suggest the process was less catastrophic - with matter gently clumping together instead.

The study appears in Science journal and has been presented at the American Association for the Advancement of Science meeting in Seattle. The study's lead researcher, Dr Alan Stern, said that the discovery was of "stupendous magnitude".

"There was the prevailing theory from the late 1960s of violent collisions and a more recent emerging theory of gentle accumulation. One is dust and the other is the only one standing. This rarely happens in planetary science, but today we have settled the matter," he told BBC News.

The claim arises from detailed study of an object in the outer reaches of the Solar System. Named Arrokoth, the object is more than six billion km from the Sun in a region called the Kuiper belt. It is a pristine remnant of planet formation in action as the Solar System formed 4.6 billion years ago, with two bodies combining to form a larger one.

Scientists obtained high-resolution pictures of Arrokoth when Nasa's New Horizons spacecraft flew close to it just over a year ago. It gave scientists their first opportunity to test which of the two competing theories was correct: did its components crash together or was there gentle contact? The analysis by Dr Stern and his team could find no evidence of violent impact. The researchers found no stress fractures, nor was there any flattening, indicating that the objects were squashed together gently.

"This is completely decisive," said Dr Stern. "In one fell swoop, the flyby of Arrokoth was able to decide between the two theories."...

Audio editing

The only thread I could find by using the word "audio" or "editing" that helped me was from 2011. I'm looking for some good audio editing software. I'm familiar with Audacity (and do use it without issue), but was curious to see what else people recommend.

I've been making some youtube videos for tech type stuff (troubleshooting, networking, configuration), and would like to see what other software options I have. I'm not afraid to spend a bit of money, nothing bank breaking but I'd be able to handle USD$100-200 if it's worth it.

Superconducting Graphene

Quote:

The discovery has been the biggest surprise to hit the solid-state physics field since the 2004 discovery that an intact sheet of carbon atoms — graphene — could be lifted off a block of graphite with a piece of Scotch tape, work that was later awarded the Nobel Prize. And it has ignited a frenzied race among condensed-matter physicists to explore, explain and extend the MIT results, which have since been duplicated in several labs.

The observation of superconductivity has created an unexpected playground for physicists. The practical goals are obvious: to illuminate a path to higher-temperature superconductivity, to inspire new types of devices that might revolutionize electronics, or perhaps even to hasten the arrival of quantum computers. But more subtly, and perhaps more important, the discovery has given scientists a relatively simple platform for exploring exotic quantum effects. “There’s an almost frustrating abundance of riches for studying novel physics in the magic-angle platform,” said Cory Dean, a physicist at Columbia University who was among the first to duplicate the research.

Temporally entangled particles seem to show purpose, but consciousness is needed?

I found this article which claims this:

Quote:

There must be an observer in order for the entangled causality to occur and physical processes cannot observe anything. So the very occurrence of reverse causality at the physical level means there is top down influence from the human level to the physical level. Not only is quantum physics unable to explain human final causality, it cannot explain its own final causality by itself. Its final causality is a trickle down effect from the human level.

The author cites this science research for his claims:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-019-11579-x

Also the article in question is published in a web-portal that published also the work of Michael Egnor: https://mindmatters.ai/2019/12/why-m...ed-philosophy/

Which makes me sceptical and also I did not find as a layman here because I do not understand QM nothing for this conclusion and I found evidence to the contrary in other articles like this:

https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/anj8...-consciousness

https://www.scienceandnonduality.com...ious-observers

However I would like to know what you people think about it. Thanks for reading this and I wish you a nice day.
