Has Google Been Hacked?

Has anyone had this happen? Click on a Google link to a well-established website only to be redirected to a marketing or phishing site? This has happened to me four or five times within the past week and each time I was trying to connect to sites I have visited many times previously. One is a legal research site that provides text of court filings. Today it was UPI, a long-established international news service.

Today I sought information about the 54 speech arrests in France. The link I clicked on was the highlighted UPI link below:

The page opened slowly and I saw the url in the browser seemed to be for a discount furniture site not UPI. Below is the page that opened:

I used the back space key and was taken to the UPI page. When I looked in my History the discount furniture link did not appear. It was like it never happened. The four or five times this has happened recently -- always after I did a Google search and clicked on a link that came up -- I was redirected with a url that seemed to refer to one of two sites: discount furniture or Land's End fashion wear. Those sites never actually open, instead I get the Windows Security Essential page with the warning and 888 number to call.

The page appeared phoney to me and when I Googled Windows Security Essential 888-259-9242 the link that came up was to a web site called ourmentalspa.blogspot.com and a page that is apparently in Chinese. Not good!

Has anyone else had this happen? (I should mention following each of these incidents I did a full scan of my computer using AdwCleaner, F-Secure and BitDefender. They didn't find anything and my computer is running normally.)
