Can a mysteriously damaged mp3 file be somehow fixed?

I have an mp3 file of an obscure song that it would be literally impossible to replace (and I have looked extensively). The song always plays just fine on my computer, in both Windows Media Player and MediaMonkey (if that matters).

But today I tried to burn it to a mix CD, and the CD kept ejecting itself unburned while an error message repeatedly appeared. When I removed this particular file from the list, the whole thing burned splendidly.

What can this mean? Can the file somehow be fixed? Has anyone ever had this happen?

Sorry for asking such a trivial question, but the computer people on here have always been really helpful. Most forums will ridicule confused people like me at best and post fake directions that try to get us to delete our system files and other malarkey at worst. :-( (I've never personally fallen for THAT ruse, but still - it puts me off, and I never get any help regardless.)

Thanks to anyone who wanders in here!
