This summer I taught an "early college" class of high school students. They're in an accelerated program to receive both high school and college credit. If they fail my class, they 1) Get kicked out of the program; 2) Have to take it again to graduate from high school; 3) Have to take it yet again when they go to a college or university. I have a student who totally cheated on the exam yesterday by Googling answers. I did not catch him in the act.
He said he did research at home and that's why his answers match Wikipedia word-for-word rather than the textbook or the lecture notes. I said he could put my fears to rest by recording a short video of his time-stamped web browser's history. He said he did all of the research on his phone, and that he deletes his phone's history every time he looks something up in order to "clear data and reduce cache."
