The CIA's lone copy of the 6,700 page report of detainee torture, stored on disk, was somehow destroyed.
This runs counter to those who believe 9-11 was in part an attempt to destroy evidence of wrongdoing. The CIA, intelligence community, and the Department of Defense lose reports that the don't want to quite often, and when it comes down to it they can make some things go away.
This was one of them.
I don't think anyone should be surprised, I was shocked that those reports and logs hadn't been destroyed when they got rid of the video evidence.
Here's what will happen next:
The House and Senate Intelligence Committees will issue strongly worded statements, the CIA will apologize, agents will be reassigned, and a few people were going to retire anyway will be sent packing with their pensions intact. Not another word about this will be spoken.
