Not true. Ireland was in economic stasis until Ireland's economic expansion began in the 1960s with the end of protectionist policies, then they joined the EU and thereafter followed the same boom and bust model as the rest of the western world. The only part of Ireland which went into economic decline after the 26 counties left was the 6 counties who stayed in the UK.
