Should nations consider the rest of the world when making laws?

You do not wish for your laws to be set by some sort of global standard. But like it or not, America is a member of a global community. In fact, it is a major player in the global community. What happens in America, like it or not, affects the entire world. So I believe that it is utterly irresponsible for America to isolate itself from the global community the way you are suggesting. What happens in America gets copied in other countries.
