Explanation for 3rd trimester abortions due to risk for health from pregnancy

Topic here is about abortions after 24th week of pregnancy, so the real late stuff, that does not happen that often.

A lot of these are due to the unborn being disabled or malformed often in a serious or even literally with life incompatible way. These are also not topic here.

Whether there are abortion that late due to the woman deciding against giving birth that late, is hard to say, if so, these are probably very few (*).

My question aims specifically at the following some people claimed:

That some abortions happen after 24th week due to non-psychological health risks for the woman in case the pregancy continues (meaning not suicidal tendencies, but some physical problem).

That claim strikes me as questionable, because if a woman is after 24th week, wants the child (otherwise it would be * above and hence not what is claimed) and is faced with some diagnosis indicating the pregnancy should at best end yesterday then i cannot imagine, why one should not delivery at once by inducing birth or via caesarean section; after all it would also end the preganancy quickly and additionally the child might survive.

Furthermore, considering about what i know about such late-term abortion, i cannot see, why the late-term abortion would carry a significantly different risk than either inducing birth or caesarean section. Hence, i cannot see how one would arrive at performing the abortion, although the child is wanted and although its late enough there is a survival chance (and as, you might know, simply googling for objective information about the true motivations/situations behind late-term abortions and about the objective risk in comparison with caesarian section or inducing birth will produce lot of results, but potentially few reliable).

But yet, that was the claim, that for some late-term pregnancy complications being only of the physical type late-term, abortion is the only way to deal with the complications.

Thanks for any input
