The Paris Agreement; the Munich Agreement of Climate Change

Trumpeted as the saviour of the human race, the Paris Agreement is a joke.

USA, as shown in Obama's speech, leading the way in reducing CO2 emissions.

Fail.

UK. What more could be said than highlighting David Cameron's slashing of green incentives?

China: they'll be the big mover! Six trillion they said they'd spend on green energy over the next decade or so.

I wonder how their six trio is looking right now? They seem to be spending their dough pretty quickly, and there's no end in sight at the moment. The idea that they're going to come up with six trio not to buy oil priced at giveaway prices is absurd.

India is clearly the big mover in CO2, with a burgeoning growth rate and a developing middle class. India's emissions decreasing seems about as likely as tigers becoming vegetarian, especially on the back of cheap fuel.

The other big issue is the price of petrol, which sits all over the world at historically very low prices. While the difference in car traffic will offset by reduced infrastructure spending by China, air travel is way up, and we know that air travel is by far the most damaging form of transport.

I wouldn't expect air travel to decline anytime soon, with fuel prices only now starting to impact on airfares, with some big reductions being made or mooted.

The Paris Agreement is a failure. James Hansen says it is "just worthless words", and I rate his authority on the subject just a little higher than mine. Countries have promised to try very hard. Already the leaders are failing - the agreement has no chance at all and people were foolish to think it would make a difference.

Move to high ground and enjoy the warmer planet. At least there will always be something to talk about, and the only people who will be really badly affected by it all are poor, and they don't really matter anyway!

Palau weeps.
