The truth is Iron rich micro spheres produced in a chimney effect, and from steel cutting , are not proof of thermitic reactions, but are the cause of, hydrogen, and metal oxidation reactions, including thermitic reactions.
If as I have been informed the sample holder in a DSC is ceramic then reduction of Iron oxide to iron in a DSC in air is likely do to convection heating at the surface of the ceramic creating a bubble of low oxygen expanding air.
In other words finely divided Iron drives the chemistry of the rubble piles after the collapses,
Reduced Iron micro spheres will also not float off in the oxide of aluminum, allowing Aluminum to glow yellow and flow such micro spheres are evidence that R.J. Lee was correct,
That a chimney effect occured in the buildings with very complex chemical reactions.
Iron oxide spheres were formed by oxidation of Iron, those were reduced in the low oxygen portion of the chimney effect to iron, then oxidized again in presence of other reactive metals,
Such reactions created more reactions that in turn continued the process since iron oxidation and reduction are reversible in the chemistry of the rubble piles.
The cutting of the steel with torches, and lances, actually with water washing the iron into the pile provided both more fuel and oxygen to the fires.
It is very easy to see why such complex fires are hard to extinguish, and why low melt metals would be found long after the collapses.
Any question welcome, this was just what I was curious to know, I did this solely out of curiosity.
