Long story short, im just a welder from NY whos well off friend approached him not too long ago and offered me an opportunity. He believes im brilliant for some reason, and said that If I took the time to learn; he would like to start to invest in real estate with me as a partner. That being said, I have been reading about it non stop for 3 weeks, and still I have a million questions.
At this point in time with my limited knowledge, I think starting out with wholesaling would be the easiest and safest way to to get my feet wet. I may be wrong, and thats why Im here. My friend is interested in "flipping", which I would love to do, but again; I think wholesale is a much better place to start.
Simple questions keep popping up. Is it required to have areal estate license in the state of NY if you would like to do wholsaling? I was under the impression it was not, but today I read something that makes me think otherwise. Maybe not for wholesale, but for flipping? Im not sure.
Where is a good place to get a contracts written up by competent people who really know how to work with someone in wholesale? This seems to be the thing im most nervous about. Im trying desperately to read up on it, but nothing beats years of law school and time working in a firm. As I said, I have no experience in this type of work and really couldnt even tell you if there are lawyers who specialize specifically in these contracts. Obviously I really need my bases covered in this regard so I dont get caught over my head, which I self admittedly might be.
Are there ways for individuals like myself to get access to the MLS? Im under the impression no, but have also read I can probably pay a real estate agent to print out recent listings in my target area.
Im going to keep posting here as questions pop up, and new information comes my way. As I always say when I post here, I trust the people here and I take their advice seriously. This is a place I visit when Im looking for people who know what they are talking about, and all help is appreciated. Anything extra you would like to add is welcomes, I know i must be overlooking a lot.
Again, dont rip me a knew one too hard, I KNOW NOTHING! Cheers.:D
