To summarize: Due to a clerical error, a 20 year old man sentenced to 98 years in prison was released on parole in 2009 after serving 8 years. That error was recently noticed, and the man is being returned to prison. There is some evidence that he knew of the clerical error in 2000, when he filed an appeal and then withdrew it, so as not to draw attention to the error. Since he has been out, he has been a model citizen: he's gotten married, had a child, developed a career and a job, is active in his church and coaches soccer.
Colorado man returns to prison after being released 90 years early
Assuming the original sentencing was reasonable (and I don't have any evidence it wasn't) was returning this man to prison to resume his sentence where he left off, the right decision?
I voted yes, because the justice system determined he warranted this punishment in the first place, and because it doesn't seem fair to give this guy time off when no other prisoner gets such a break.
