Really, what is it? If I want to drink, I much prefer to do it at home. Costs FAR less money, I do not have to get dressed, and do not have to drive or walk home afterward.
I can understand going to a bar for some specific purpose, like looking for a date. Then I can regard overpriced alcohol as "surcharge" on the activity -- although Internet dating sites rendered that one obsolete long time ago, AFAIAC. But going to bar just to drink was always insane to me.
