Stabbing going to effect gun control?

Since there were no casualties in todays "mass stabbing" outside of Pittsburgh I feel like it provides more opportunity for the gun debate. The old saying "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight" comes to mind, but what if there was no gun fight and it was only knives. Obviously we see the survival rate increase drastically because of a lesser chance of a "kill shot" and more opportunity to bring down the attacker.
