Need a tablet to take to the body shop.

I may be spending some time at the VA hospital in the near future and I am considering getting a tablet to use as a reader. I know next to nothing about them and don't trust the advertising very much. I will have wifi there, so internet access would be nice. I'll have my reading (primarily PDFs) on an external drive (with micro USB cables) and maybe some USB chips as well. I can live with a 7" screen, but larger would be nicer, I have cataracts forming.
