Biden Forgot Walorski Had Died and Thought Congress "Passed" His Loan Forgiveness

At a press conference in late September, Biden called out for and looked for Rep. Jackie Walorski, who had died nearly two months earlier in a car crash. What makes this incident even more disturbing is that Biden issued a press release shortly after Walorski's death to extend his condolences and praise her bipartisanship. But less than two months later, Biden forgot all about it and thought she was still alive. Seriously, folks?

Then, in late October, Biden told a group of activists that he had gotten his student debt relief program "passed by a vote or two." The White House later claimed that Biden was referring to the Inflation Reduction Act (when will it start working, by the way?). But that's not what he said. Even CNN, of all sources, admitted that "Biden certainly did not make it clear in these comments that he was talking about anything other than the student debt initiative." He was clearly talking about his student debt executive order.

Biden is obviously suffering from serious cognitive decline, if not the onset of Alzheimer's. When you can't remember the death of a congresswoman whose death you publicly mourned six weeks earlier, and when you even call out and look for her in an audience and wonder out loud why she's not there, this is a sign of serious cognitive decline.

Could this be why Biden still refuses to take the same mental cognition test that Trump agreed to take (and that Trump passed with flying colors)?

Beyond being ammo for scoring political points, this is a serious issue for our governance and for the functioning of our government. Someone who is suffering from this degree of cognitive decline does not belong in the White House.

Facebook Messenger

My first question is, what is this?

Yesterday I got an email from a friend. Or so I thought. The title was "Robert Smith sent you a message." It looked a little hinky but I was at work so I opened it on a company computer. :o The text read the same as the title: "Robert Smith sent you a message." When I clicked on "View Message" I was asked to "log in." Log in to what? The log in page asked for my email and password. What password? I put in my email address and used my email password. It took me to a Facebook page my friend uses. The post was a historic video someone posted in December 2019. When I emailed my friend to 'thank him,' he emailed me back he knew nothing about it.

I have since discovered, "Messenger is a proprietary instant messaging app and platform developed by Meta Platforms. Originally developed as Facebook Chat in 2008." Okay.

But why did Facebook or Messenger decide to send me a link to something posted almost three years ago? Why did it state "Robert Smith sent you a message, " when he didn't? That doesn't seem ethical. In fact, what it seems like is dishonest and manipulative. At the bottom of the email I got, it stated, in tiny font: "If you don't want to receive these emails from Meta in the future, please unsubscribe. Meta Platforms, Inc., Attention: Community Support, 1 Facebook Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025.'

If I don't want to receive emails from Meta? The email was titled "Robert Smith sent you a message," not "Meta sent you a message." If it had read, "Meta sent you a message," I would have deleted it without bothering to open it. I presume Messenger knows that which is why it doesn't say, Meta sent you a message.

Anybody familiar with this? I'm asking here because, expedience tells me, asking Facebook would be a waste of time. Mine and theirs.

Surely this

We’ve all heard evidence of children being told that because they don't like/conform to the toys; clothes; hair styles; activities and behaviours associated with their “gender" that they might in fact be the opposite sex.
should say "opposite gender", or "different gender", not "opposite sex", if we are imagining what a trans-activist would say? There certainly are some people that want to play the same game with sex as has been played with gender, but that seems to be a minority.

Terraform Load Balancer

Any Terraform guru's out there?

I have 2 load balancers created, they are defined identically.

However, while the first one is working perfectly the second one has no instances at all defined when I get to the aws console. I double checked the instance id's and they are correct.

working definition:

elb_wcc = {
certificate_arn = "arn:aws:acm:us-west-2:289036058743:certificate/01379b61-499a-4e40-8656-3729d05456ab"
count = 1
}
elb_wcc_instances =["i-03bf79bc886cd7616","i-0294d3dd570220c51"]

Non working definition:

elb_wcc2 = {
certificate_arn = "arn:aws:acm:us-west-2:289036058743:certificate/6c1c5c5a-dffe-3d95-bee7-5ea7c47eeb7a"
count = 1
}
elb-wcc2_instances =["i-066cba60c8f89219c","i-08031fa21bada293f"]

An Open Letter to All Cranks

Dr Steven Novella, practicing neurologist and host of The Skeptics Guide to the Universe, has written a letter. Make sure you click the link because the excerpt that the forum rules permit me to post does not do it justice:

An Open-Letter to All Cranks

Quote:

Dear Crank,

I use that term not as a personal attack, but as an accurate description of your behavior. I want you to understand why that behavior is not serving you well, and what you can do the escape from a cycle of self-destructive, and frankly annoying, behavior. Hey – you e-mailed me, you jumped up in front of me waving your hands in order to get my attention. Well, you got it. And now I am going to do you a massive favor. I am going to give you a tiny slice of the attention you are so clearly desperate for and explain to you why you are a crank...
