Should archeologists be excavating tombs?

A story today is that the tomb of an ancient Egyptian High Priest has been discovered in the Saqqara pyramid complex.

Quote:

Archaeologists in Egypt have made an exciting tomb discovery - the final resting place of a high priest, untouched for 4,400 years.

Mostafa Waziri, secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, described the find as "one of a kind in the last decades".

The tomb, found in the Saqqara pyramid complex near Cairo, is filled with colourful hieroglyphs and statues of pharaohs. Decorative scenes show the owner, a royal priest named Wahtye, with his mother, wife and other relatives.

Archaeologists will start excavating the tomb on 16 December, and expect more discoveries to follow - including the owner's sarcophagus.

The guy in the video excitedly says they ought to find furniture and other items within the sarcophagus itself.

I have been to the British Museum many times and the sight of the mummified remains seems mildly distasteful to me, although there are usually parties of school children who head straight for this section.

Should the dead just be left alone undisturbed, or is the curiosity of archaeologists supreme?

The Madeline McCann Case.

It was difficult to find a place with current, credible information.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/223894...atest-age-now/

I ran a search, but couldn't locate a thread here about this interesting case.

Personally, I do not believe the parents are involved. Does anyone have thoughts on what happened to her, and if the child is still alive?

Another Racist Statue Removed

Warning: This may cause mental issues in those who believe that it is impossible for anyone other than a member of the 'White Race' to be racist.

Quote:

*.The University of Ghana erected a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in June 2016. It was a gift to the country from India's president at the time.

*. Faculty and students protested the statue shortly after it went up.

*.Gandhi made racist comments against Africans while he was living in South Africa, historians said. He referred to them as "savages" in letters.

*.The university took down the statue on Tuesday night after two years of protest, but refused to say why.

NJ Democrats Hope to Put Gerrymandering in the State Constitution

And they're even using a sneaky method to do it. First the problem as reported by that conservative rag Slate:

Quote:

Legislators in the Garden State hope to fast-track a constitutional amendment that would likely create a durable Democratic gerrymander of the Legislature. If passed, the proposal would strike a blow against democracy and undermine the Democratic Party’s ability to hold the moral high ground on partisan redistricting—all for the sake of padding out a liberal statehouse with a few more Democratic seats. It is exactly the kind of election rigging that most progressives rail against today.
The article goes on to point out the problem:

Quote:

But the second change is even more dramatic, and diabolical. It would require half of legislative districts to favor Democrats, and half to favor Republican—but at least 25 percent of districts would have to be “competitive.” That might be reasonable if the measure defined competitiveness fairly, as a district evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. It does not. Instead, a district would be “competitive” if its party composition is within 5 percentage points of the statewide average vote for president, senator, and governor over the past decade.
Here's the sneaky part:

Quote:

Typically, a constitutional amendment cannot reach the ballot unless three-fifths of the state Legislature have approved it. But lawmakers have seized upon a little-used rule that sends an amendment to the voters once a simple majority of the Legislature has passed it in two consecutive calendar years. Democrats hope to approve the measure in December, then again in January, allowing them to place it on the ballot in November 2019.
Liberals may hope that these sorts of shenanigans will result in the Supreme Court stepping in on the whole gerrymandering issue. Slate pours cold water on that notion as well:

Quote:

But just this year, the court considered Maryland’s egregious Democratic gerrymander—and punted the case. If anything, more Democratic gerrymandering will only give the conservative justices cover to kick these cases out of court, depicting their abdication as nonpartisan because #bothsides do it.
Not to mention the fact that New Jersey's gerrymandering attempt would affect only state legislative districts.

belated Gmail data breach

Way back in 2009 or so I grabbed a disposable Gmail acct for getting on a forum. Otherwise I never use Emails for any other reasons.

As this was the only Email account I had penned down I used it again to sign into two more forums. The last one I actually had to look at the mail piled up to read a message.
There were 92 messages with the most from 2013 including a message from Gmail suspending my account saying it had been hacked and used by others. I never knew nor bothered to look.

Among the good stuff was a FedEx package could not be delivered I never ordered and a scam about how I was being looked up via the www and something had been added somewhere that was negative and would hurt me getting a job among other things. Of course they could fix it.

The other crap was sales pitches and online sex crap by the dozens of all flavors. Lots of failure to respond messages to everything and by 2016 it all stopped. I honestly had never looked at the inbox until recently.
