The upside of Donald Trump

With so many pessimists here who can't stand Trump, I'm trying to uncover potential upsides to this situation ... like whether he is giving the U.S. a "teachable moment," evidence that the rule of law is more robust than personality cults, encouraging turnout in elections etc.

The media in most countries would not be as free to criticize Trump ... does this underscore the core U.S. value of freedom of speech?

Is Trump calling attention to the failings of Congress when it coms to immigration reform and health care, two huge issues that the GOP establishment has failed to address?

Is Trump forcing independents to take a side and jolting Democrats out of complacency?

Everything significant that the U.S. government does comes with unintended consequences. I like to think that however we feel about Trump, his presidency is leading to unforeseen consequences that will make the U.S. stronger. It's a bit of a reach to ask Trump opponents what good might come out of his presidency. His supporters apparently think he's doing great on border security, trade issues etc., so while I'd like to hear from them, I'm looking for a response from people who don't support Trump but can see the potential upsides to his presidency.
