Why aren't more out of print book avilable as e-books?

Why aren't more out of print books available as e-books? With copyright extending from 50-120 years after a book is published it can be rather hard to find some books. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...pyright_length

It seems that there are a ton of books out there that are too recent to be out of copyright and available on the Guttenberg website, and not of enough interest by potential buyers to be sold on sites like Amazon.

For example I read JD Fitzgerald’s Uncle Will & the Fitzgerald Curse about 35 years go in school. I'd like to read it again but the lowest price I've seen for it is about $75 and I have not seen it around in local libraries.

Is there no money to be made in typing the manuscript into a text file and selling it as an e-book?
