I'm doing writing labs with 4 groups of middle school students. There are 22 computers in the room. Their keyboarding skills vary widely. I'm trying to find out whether people become fluent typists just by doing it, or whether a drill protocol is in order, and if so, what people have found useful.
I took typing in summer school when I was a kid and am a much better typist for it. I also got LOTS of practice as a writer/editor. Without the drills I doubt if I'd be as fluent.
Opinions? Feedback?
